I'm a wife, a mother, a daughter, a teacher and a reader. Quite often I get asked the question, "What do you read?" So here is my answer.

Putting the book down

I have been given a name that is as Romantic as I am.  And like most true Romantics (remember big R not little r), I truly love literature.  I hold a degree in Secondary English Education with a French Teaching minor, which means that on top of my education degree it's as though I have a separate degree in literature.  I am pursuing a masters degree in reading and writing, so more literature.

I teach English II, IV and AP literature and composition at a high school in rural Kentucky.  I have a one-year-old son.  So based on the fact that I interact with lots of different reading levels, I read a lot.  I don't always get to read for pleasure, but for the most part, I enjoy what I read.

This blog was originally created for a course in pursuit of my graduate degree:  Children and Young Adult Literature.  At first, I despised the assignment, but several months after the class has ended, I continue to update my blog.

I in no way claim to be a critic of literature, I just post my own opinions about books--mainly how they can be used in the classroom--in hopes that I may help others.
